If you’re looking for a been-there, done-that, no-nonsense gelding that can truly do it all, Concho checks every box. Standing a solid 15 hands with a big hip, solid bone, plenty of substance, and a work ethic that’s getting harder to find, Concho is the definition of seasoned and dependable.
Concho ropes both ends in the team roping, has been used extensively in breakaway, and also has a solid barrel pattern. He has been hauled all over and has won money at numerous World Series Roping's, U.S. Roping's, and The Patriot on the heel side. Concho has been heeled on successfully by riders ranging from a #3 all the way to a #8 heeler. In the breakaway pen, he has won money and multiple buckles, making him a true multi-event horse. Outside the arena, Concho is just as solid and experienced. He has been ridden countless miles on the trail — through water, over deadfall, across large bridges over canyons, and down the road around traffic without hesitation. He is excellent to pony other horses off of and remains sensible in new environments. He is well broke with a snappy one-handed neck rein, nice turnarounds, a ground-covering extended trot, side passes, and is responsive to leg pressure. He can sit with extended time off and come back to work without any silly business. While Concho has packed youth riders, he is not a total beginner horse. When you swing a leg over, he is all business — forward, responsive, and ready to work. A beginner rider without guidance may find him intimidating, but he is a capable partner that is ready to go get a job done.
Concho is 100% sound with no history of issues and has zero bad habits — no buck, rear, bite, bolt, or kick. On the ground, he is a complete gentleman: respectful, uncomplicated, and easy. He loads in the trailer with a point in the right direction, backs out quietly, travels well, stands tied without a fuss, saddles and bridles easily, and will never cause drama at the trailer — even when the annoying young baby is chewing on his halter.
