Auf den ersten Blick fällt die Farbe ins Auge. Ein 7-jähriger, 15,1 hh großer Leopard-Appaloosa mit wunderschönen Palomino-Flecken, dessen Mähne, Schweif und Stirnlocke so aussehen, als hätte er sie bestellt. Er ist ungewöhnlich, elegant und einfach kaum zu übersehen. Doch schon nach fünf Minuten mit Bex wird klar: Die Farbe ist nur das kleinste Detail. Dieser Wallach ist eine alte Seele. Er ist freundlich, ruhig, äußerst charmant und liebt Menschen wirklich. Er begrüßt dich an der Weide, freut sich über eine gute Streicheleinheit, benimmt sich vorbildlich und strahlt eine ruhige, ausgeglichene Gelassenheit aus, die man einfach nicht nachmachen kann. Und Bex wurde nicht großartig, weil er nur im Kreis läuft. Er hat lange Tage auf der Ranch verbracht, durch raues, felsiges Gelände. Er hat gelernt, auf seine Schritte zu achten, sich selbst und seinen Reiter zu schützen und weiterzumachen, wenn das Terrain schwierig wird. Wenn du ihn nach draußen nimmst, verstehst du sofort, warum wir ihn so schätzen. Gib ihm die Zügel, richte ihn auf den Horizont aus, und los geht’s. Wasser, Baumstämme, Brücken, Hügel, dichtes Gebüsch, unwegsames Gelände oder mehrere Meilen Trail – Bex bringt dich überall hin. Auch im Viereck macht er eine gute Figur. Er geht Schritt, Trab und Galopp in schönen, runden Linien, nimmt seine korrekten Führungen auf und ist ein eleganter Bewegungsperformer. Wirklich, ein englisches Sattel würde ihm sicher auch gut stehen. Flaggen, Planen und Hindernisparcours bringen ihn kaum aus der Ruhe. Auch eine kurze Pause ändert kaum seine Gelassenheit. Das vielleicht Beste an Bex ist: Du musst ihn nicht erst erarbeiten, um ihn zu genießen. Er bleibt sanft, zuverlässig und gleichbleibend. Kein Aufwärmen, kein unnötiges Quatsch – Sattel drauf, los und einen schönen Tag haben. Bex wird nicht als perfekt verkauft, weil er Flecken hat. Er ist besonders, weil unter all dieser Farbe ein sicherer, erfahrene, ehrliche Wallach steckt – mit großem Verstand und noch besserer Persönlichkeit. At first glance, it’s the color that gets you. A 7-year-old, 15.1 hand leopard Appaloosa covered in beautiful palomino-colored spots, with the mane, tail, and forelock most Appaloosas forgot to order. He’s unusual, classy, and downright hard to quit looking at. But spend five minutes with Bex and his color quickly becomes the least interesting thing about him. This gelding is an old soul. He’s kind, quiet, incredibly personable, and genuinely enjoys people. He meets you at the gate, appreciates a good scratching, minds his manners, and has that calm, settled way about him that you simply can’t manufacture. And Bex didn’t get good by going around in circles his whole life. He’s put in long days ranching through rough, rocky country. He’s learned to watch where he puts his feet, take care of himself and his rider, and keep going when the country gets tough. Take him outside and you’ll understand exactly why we like him so much. Give him his head, point him toward the horizon, and go. Water, logs, bridges, hills, thick brush, rough country or several miles down the trail — Bex is happy to take you there. He’s just as enjoyable in the arena. He walks, trots and lopes pretty circles, picks up his correct leads, and is a beautiful mover. Truthfully, put an English saddle on him and he’d look like he belonged there too. Flags, tarps and obstacle courses don’t change his expression much. Neither does a little time off. That may be the best thing about Bex: you don’t have to earn the right to enjoy him every time you saddle him. He stays gentle. He stays broke. He stays the same. No lunging the freshness off, no unnecessary nonsense — saddle up and go have a good day. Bex isn’t being advertised as perfect because he has spots. He’s special because underneath all that color is a safe, seasoned, honest gelding with a great mind and an even better personality. The fact that he looks like that is just showing off. D’un premier coup d’œil, c’est la couleur qui frappe. Un Appaloosa léopard de 7 ans, mesurant 15,1 hh, couvert de magnifiques taches palomino, avec la crinière, la queue et la mèche qui semblent avoir été oubliées par la plupart des Appaloosas. Il est unique, élégant, et il est difficile de ne pas continuer à le regarder. Mais passez cinq minutes avec Bex, et sa couleur devient rapidement la moindre de ses qualités. Ce mâle est une vieille âme. Il est gentil, calme, incroyablement sociable, et il aime vraiment la compagnie. Il vous accueille à la porte, apprécie une bonne gratouille, a de bonnes manières, et dégage cette attitude calme et posée qu’on ne peut tout simplement pas fabriquer. Et Bex n’a pas gagné en expérience en tournant en rond toute sa vie. Il a passé de longues journées à faire du ranch dans des terrains difficiles et rocheux. Il a appris à faire attention où il met les pieds, à prendre soin de lui-même et de son cavalier, et à continuer même lorsque le terrain devient difficile. Sortez-le dehors, et vous comprendrez parfaitement pourquoi on l’aime autant. Donnez-lui sa tête, pointez-le vers l’horizon, et partez. Eau, obstacles, ponts, collines, broussailles épaisses, terrains escarpés ou plusieurs kilomètres de sentier — Bex est heureux de vous y emmener. Il est tout aussi agréable en manège. Il marche, trotte et galoppe en de jolis cercles, prend ses bonnes allures, et il est un magnifique mouvementur. Franchement, en lui mettant une selle anglaise, il aurait aussi fière allure. Les drapeaux, bâches et parcours d’obstacles ne changent pas beaucoup son expression. Pas plus qu’un peu de repos. Ce qui est peut-être la meilleure qualité de Bex : vous n’avez pas besoin de le mériter pour en profiter à chaque fois que vous le sellez. Il reste doux. Il reste fiable. Il reste le même. Pas besoin de le faire s’échauffer ou de faire des manœuvres inutiles — en selle, et partez pour une bonne journée. Bex n’est pas présenté comme parfait parce qu’il a des taches. Il est spécial parce qu’au-delà de cette couleur, c’est un mâle fiable, expérimenté, honnête, doté d’un bon esprit et d’une personnalité encore meilleure.
