If your idea of a perfect ride involves less drama, more scenery, and a horse who isn’t in a hurry to get anywhere, Stanley would like to introduce himself.
Stanley is a 6-year-old rose grey Draft Cross gelding standing a solid 15.3 hands tall. He’s a big, handsome boy with an even bigger heart and truly is one of those gentle-soul type horses. Quiet, kind, uncomplicated, and definitely more whoa than go, Stanley’s favorite speed seems to be whatever speed allows everyone to relax and enjoy the ride.
And that’s exactly what makes him so much fun.
Stanley has logged tons of trail miles and has traveled all over with me. We’ve explored miles of trails, headed out alone, ridden with large groups, and even ditched the saddle altogether and gone swimming bareback in the creeks. Whatever the day’s adventure happens to be, Stanley’s general attitude is, “Sure, I guess we’re doing this today.” 😂
In a group, he doesn’t care where you put him. Front, middle, or back—Stanley is perfectly content. He’s not worried about being first, doesn’t get worked up about being last, and isn’t looking for a reason to make a simple trail ride complicated. He takes new situations in stride and is the kind of horse you can actually sit back and ENJOY.
Under saddle, Stanley is refreshingly easy to operate. He will neck rein or direct rein, has a nice smooth trot, and steps right into an easy lope when asked. There’s no need to be a professional horse trainer to figure out the controls—point, ask, and Stanley is happy to oblige.
For the beginner rider, Stanley offers the quiet, forgiving nature that can make riding feel FUN instead of intimidating. For the experienced rider who’s spent enough years riding the spicy ones and is ready to simply enjoy themselves…Stanley might feel like a well-earned vacation. 😉
At only 6 years old, he has his whole life ahead of him, yet already has the real-world trail experience people spend years trying to put on a horse. He’s big enough to comfortably carry a variety of riders, gentle enough to inspire confidence, and experienced enough that you don’t have to spend every ride wondering what’s around the next corner.
Some horses make you feel like you need to prove something every time you climb aboard.
Stanley makes you want to pack a lunch and see where the trail goes.
He comes with a current veterinary health examination and current Coggins and is ready to find his next adventure partner.
