This gelding is a 4-year-old, jet-black Friesian/Percheron cross with hair for days and an “in-your-pocket” personality. He stands right around 16–16.1 hh and is put together beautifully, with a solid brain to match. More fondly known around the barn as “Baby Summit,” he’s the biggest lovebug and still in that lanky baby stage of growing. Despite his young age, Summit acts like he’s been around the sun 100 times—he’s truly as quiet and safe as they come. Seriously, you can canter him around bareback on a loose rein while shaking a flag on his back, and he’ll just carry on. He rides Western and English, drives, and even lays down on command! This boy is precious in every way, and we want the very best home for our Baby Summit. Under saddle, Summit has the basics down, and if you can hold the reins, you can ride him. He’s the definition of safe and quiet, suitable for a wide variety of riders. He takes care of everyone who’s sat on him, and I don’t think being naughty or disobedient is even in his DNA. His favorite gait is probably moseying around on a loose rein, but he’ll pick up and put in the work when asked. He’s never had any other answer than yes—he wants to please his person and is so chill and willing that he’ll go along with whatever craziness you throw at him. He has been thoroughly desensitized to tarps, flags, smoke, dogs, kids, other farm animals, equipment, traffic, and just about everything else you can think of. He’s unflappable, with a confidence most horses take years to develop. He’s an easy ride in every way—extremely comfortable in all three gaits, responsive to aids, and able to take a joke. Throw that friend who’s never ridden on him, the nervous rider, or even granny out for a hack—Summit is reliable and safe. He will not disappoint! On the trail, Summit is equally amazing. He enjoys getting out to experience nature with his person and his horse buddies. Load him on the trailer, and he’ll unload anywhere you take him as the same steady boy, just happy to be included. He’s seen everything from wildlife, bikers, and hikers to traffic, creeks, winding wooded trails, and open fields—and he takes it all in stride. He’ll lead the group or bring up the rear, never in a hurry and never getting worked up. He’s the kind of horse you can crack a cold one on and leave your worries at home with. A fun, trustworthy ride you can drop the reins on and canter through the fields. Summit is the same horse every time you pull him out, and he has an incredibly bright future. In the barn, Summit is a big baby in the best way. He would live in your pocket if he could, and once he bonds with you, he’ll happily rummage around looking for a treat. He stands like a gentleman on the ties for grooming, bathing, and tacking up—or spend a couple of hours giving him a spa day and braids, and he’ll love every second. He will quite literally stand next to you while you use power tools (watch the video 🤣) just to be close and give moral support. He’s curious and friendly while always remaining respectful, and he’s a joy to handle. Summit doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, and we absolutely adore him. He makes the best barn mascot and is truly everyone’s favorite guy. If you’ve been looking for that special young horse who will love you as much as you love him, don’t miss out on Summit!
