Stable Manager and Western Horse Trainer Wanted – Montaione, Florence

Scotti Quarter Horses is a professional Western riding stable located near Montaione, in the province of Florence, Tuscany. We currently manage approximately 30 Western-trained horses.

Our facilities include a 1,000 m² indoor arena, a round pen for young horse training, 30 stalls, a tack room, and dedicated horse washing and drying areas.

We are looking for an experienced professional who will be responsible for the daily management of the stable and the training programme of the horses.

Main responsibilities
Stable management: supervising the cleaning of stalls and paddocks and ensuring the general welfare of approximately 30 horses.
Feeding plans: monitoring hay, feed and customised supplement programmes.
Training and schooling: maintaining the horses’ fitness, flatwork, schooling and preparation of Western-trained horses.
Health and care: managing veterinary appointments, farrier schedules, deworming programmes and basic first aid.
Supervising and supporting the groom, when necessary, with horse care, cleaning, feeding, hay distribution and bedding.
Candidate requirements
Proven experience: at least 3–5 years of experience in stable management and Western horse training.
Technical skills: excellent riding ability, sensitivity and confidence when working with horses, particularly in Western disciplines such as Ranch Riding, Reining or Performance classes.
Qualifications: a recognised Western riding instructor or trainer qualification, such as FITETREC-ANTE or FISE, would be an advantage.
Management skills: accuracy, reliability, punctuality and strong problem-solving abilities.
Driving licence: Category B required; Category C would be an advantage.
