Tindra – Nordschwedisches Pferd Stute

It is with a very heavy heart that I have come to realise that my heart horse, Tindra, and I are simply not heading in the same direction.
I could write a novel about all the wonderful things about this mare, but I will try to keep this description honest, clear and to the point.
Tindra is a North Swedish Horse mare with many lovely qualities. She genuinely enjoys being around people and absolutely loves being groomed and fussed over. She is easy to handle in everyday situations and is accustomed to regular hoof trimming and vaccinations.
She is used to wearing rugs, saddle and bridle, and has also been introduced to harness. She loads and travels in a horse trailer and is generally sensible around traffic. She can also be taken for walks without any problems.
Last year, Tindra was presented at a breed evaluation and received 39 points. She was quite tense on the day, so I believe she has the potential to achieve an even better result under more relaxed circumstances.

The important part

Tindra does have a significant challenge that needs to be taken seriously.
When she feels pressured or does not understand what is being asked of her, she can become highly reactive. Her response can be to suddenly throw herself to the side and bolt, regardless of whether there is something or someone in her path. This can make her unpredictable and, consequently, unsafe in situations where she feels pressured.
I have previous injuries myself, and I have reached the point where I am no longer prepared to put myself at risk of further injury.
For this reason, I have come to the difficult conclusion that I am not the right person to take Tindra further in her training.
I believe she has two realistic paths ahead of her: she could make a lovely broodmare, or she could go to an experienced person who has the time, knowledge and facilities to work patiently and consistently with her reactions, with the long-term goal of potentially developing her into a riding or driving horse.
This is not a decision I have made lightly. I have many years of experience with young horses and with horses that have presented different challenges, but I have had to accept that Tindra's particular needs are now more than I am able to take on.
Tindra is a lovely mare with a lot to offer the right person. She is affectionate, enjoys human company and has many of the qualities I have valued enormously during our time together. She simply needs a different person and a different path than the one I am able to offer her.
