STOP and check her out!!! Cowgirl is a 4-year-old Paint mare with an old soul. She is very broke, more so than many horses twice her age. She ranches, is a trail machine, and even knows some tricks. She stands at 14.3 hands tall but may grow another inch or two yet. So, check out her video and read her full description —you won’t want to miss out on her; she is a real Cowgirl. Cowgirl is a handy horse to have around. She’s the one who gets used to working cattle the most. She’s been used for roping and medicating calves. She’s roped a couple of bulls and held them as well. She’s level-headed and does NOT get flustered easily. She’s had the rope all over her, and it does not bother her a bit. She has had it under her tail and all around her legs. She can head or heel. She is the go-to horse to have around for roping and ranch work. She’s very handy broke. And she’s the one that gets used when teaching a new horse, the ropes, because you need a level-headed horse to stay calm if things go south. She knows how to move off your leg, shoulders, hindquarters, and sidepasses. Picks up her correct leads and has a good neck rein along with a nice stop off the seat. You can open and close gates off of her back. She hobbles as well. And she has been used to pony a string of horses. She has good ground manners. Stands still for tacking, mounting, and the farrier. She loads in the trailer, backs right out, and hauls good. For mounting, she knows the come over cue, whether you are on a mounting block or out in the woods on a log. Can’t find a stump or log, NO problem. Cowgirl knows the lay down cue and will lie down for you to get on. She can also lie down to get off as well. Out on the trail, she is excellent. She does NOT spook easily. She is fine riding with a dog. She is used to having her doggy friend come charging up behind her all the time. She’s fine with wildlife, too. She’s even had birds fly out of the brush next to her, and she didn’t bat an eye. She will cross water, such as a small creek or a big river. She will also cross little wooden bridges and logs. And she tackles big hills and steep banks with no problems, easily picking her way down. She has very smooth gaits as well, her trot is easy to post or sit to, and her canter is VERY smooth. Her demeanor is more laid-back and more SLOW than go. She has NO bad habits or vices. She is a safe mare with a level head on her shoulders and loads of experience under her cinch. She is this good at this age, imagine what she’ll be like in a few more years. She’s easily an all-around family type of horse that everyone can enjoy and will make a great forever horse for some lucky person. And as you can see in the video, she does great jumping, too. That was the first time that we asked her to go over a jump, and most horses can be a little clumsy the first time, and Cowgirl excelled. She has enough athletic ability and excels wherever you put her. I could easily see her doing great at 4-H, fun shows, giving lessons, or fox hunting. She’s very versatile and doesn’t get flustered easily, wherever you put her. She is excellent with traffic as well; she’s been ridden down busy highways with traffic zipping by, and she never gets bothered by it. She comes up to date on farrier, vaccines, dewormings, coggins, and a vet check. Cowgirl did have a small bump on her back right leg when I got her. It has never bothered her, but I had X-rays done on it to make sure it’s not something to worry about. And in the vet’s own words, it’s a blemish. It’ll always be there and does not affect her in any way. We also had a pre-purchase lameness exam, and she was found healthy with no lameness. And she’s been on 10-plus-mile trail rides and can also do a full day of roping cows, and NEVER gets sore.
