Claire is a 16-year-old heavyweight warmblood mare that I am reluctantly placing only in the best hands. She has been ridden, but for some time now, she has only been ridden in the field due to challenging turnout conditions and a lack of motivation on her part in the riding arena. She reliably goes out alone or in a group and also enjoys walks, showing great enthusiasm and joy during these outings. 

Overall, she is well-behaved and respectful both under saddle and in handling. She can become nervous at times, but remains manageable. I would only consider her suitable for an experienced rider; some riding experience is necessary. With guidance, she can carry even less confident riders comfortably. 

She has osteoarthritis and spavin in her hind legs. 

She is familiar with all types of housing, and full-day turnout or an open stable with a box or retreat area at night would be ideal for her. The retreat area is important, as she won’t lie down without it. She is compatible within a herd but tends to be dominant. 

She is shoeable and, with patience, also trailer-safe. She is regularly dewormed and has been seen by both the osteopath and the equine dentist. 

I am looking for a long-term home for her. 

Primarily, I want to sell her, but a transfer of ownership with full cost coverage could also be considered.
