JHC CHROMANCE, happily known around the farm as Roman, is one of the the coolest horses I’ve had the opportunity to know and train. Purchased from his breeder, he has had no injuries and has a clean PPE and radiographs from March of 2024. Roman was developed slowly and properly introduced to the hunter jumper and western world. He spent his first 60 days in the western world and has even cut cattle. Upon entering our program, he has been learning proper usage of his body through basic, low level dressage knowledge. He is a true 3 ring prospect, even more if you count the eventing, dressage, and western arenas. This guy is dependable in any environment. He requires minimal prep, if any, at new venues. Roman trailers out like a dream, both alone or with friends. He is happy to step into the arena to school and is just as happy to go out on the trails. Roman is currently schooling around 2’3, with plenty of scope for the 1.30’s. He is naturally a bit of a slow potato, but has no problems moving up and off your leg when asked. Over fences he is overly cautious and has an extreme wood allergy. He will always leave plenty of room between him and the poles. He is currently in a hackamore, but has ridden just fine in a Mullen and myler.
On the ground, Roman is extremely kind and wants to curl up in your lap. Working in the pasture? He’ll be right beside you handing you all the wrong tools in his efforts to help. He can be a bit greedy when receiving cuddles and scratches and often wonders why they have to stop. However he is gentleman enough to return the favor- never leaving anyone without a good grooming session to say thanks. Roman is extremely used to all sorts of tools and machinery. From jigsaws, drills, tractors, and side by sides this horse has seen almost everything and doesn’t have an ill word to say about them. He has lived both in various turnout situations. Previously, he was in a stall for most of the day and turnout out at night and was just fine. Currently, he is turned out 24/7 with access to his stall and free choice hay all the time. At one point he was turned out in a herd of 6 and is at the top of the totem pole. However, he does have some respect for authority and will cooperate with being knocked down a few pegs if someone else is in charge. Roman stands for the farrier, vet, clippings, braiding, you name it. His only vice is chucking his feed pans into the aisle to let you know he’s finished with his breakfast. This guy is as hardy as they come- no maintenance required. He’s barefoot and gets trimmed every other cycle. He is originally from Virginia, but has acclimated well during his first year here in florida. His coat has not faded the slightest bit, and he has continued to be quite the easy keeper. He is currently getting fed once daily- a ration balancer with 24/7 free choice O/A and is proving to hold onto all the calories despite the Florida heat. Roman is the epitome of an old man trapped in a young and capable body. This horse has all the talent to do the upper levels in any discipline of your choosing. Roman is located in Oviedo, FL just outside of Orlando’s international airport. Although he has a PPE and radiographs on file, up to date PPE’s are welcome and encouraged for buyer peace of mind! He is currently up to date on coggins, vaccines, and dental work.
