Let me introduce everyone to Parker! He’s a 15.1 hand, 10-year-old, golden palomino Quarter Horse gelding. He is eye catching and flashy as can be. Who doesn’t love a true golden palomino, especially one that’s built like him?! He is a great size and built exceptionally well with good bone and nice big feet. This gelding is the definition of STOUT. Don’t let his height fool you, he’ll take up a lot of leg being as stocky as he is so if you’re tall don’t look past him just because of his height.
This gelding carries the NPS brand which stands for the National Parks Services. He was a park ranger’s mount, and you can read about the job that these horses have and how extensive their riding and training is. We are very proud to offer a horse of this experience and caliber. He came with the best of recommendation from the National Park Service. He may not have been in the Yellowstone show, but he has been in the next best thing, which is extensively ridden in the Yellowstone National Park. He has seen miles, upon miles of riding and is as sure footed as one can be. Goes wherever you point him out on the trails. He’ll lead, he’ll follow or go alone. Goes in the water, down the road, isn’t scared of cars and goes through heavily wooded areas. Not bothered by loud noises or gunshots. I would say he’s unflappable and as close to spook proof as it gets out on the trails. He is honestly as good if not better than riding a 4 wheeler on the trails. These NPS horses are the BEST trail horses, hands down. He is a very straightforward uncomplicated ride. This is the kind of horse that can be ridden daily, weekly, or monthly and still be the same horse every time you swing your leg over. The great part about this gelding is not only does he have extensive trail experience, but he’ll also ride around the arena wonderfully, almost like he has been doing it his whole life. He moves off leg, knows his leads, has good brakes, backs and stands still for mounting and dismounting. He turns on his haunches, will turn around like a reiner, rides bridleless and has a true two finger neck rein. This is a true western broke horse. You don’t have to be a cowboy or cowgirl to ride him, but he’ll certainly make you look like one. Parker is a really nice mover and has very comfortable gaits. He will also back up a mile if you were to ask him. Has a nice soft mouth and rides in a snaffle bit.
Riding him is always enjoyable and you really can’t ride him wrong. He is a true all-around kind of mount that anyone can enjoy and have a lot of fun with whether it be trail riding, sorting cattle, gymkhana, riding in the arena. I really think this horse would do anything asked of him.
If you like a friendly horse with excellent ground manners, he’s that too. This horse has some of the best ground manners you could ever ask for. No vices whatsoever and is just super nice to be around. There’s nothing that he doesn’t like, and he’ll let you do anything to him. Parker is up to date on everything and is 100% sound. He is barefoot and does not require any shoes. Always easy to catch and a great horse to have around the barn. No maintenance or supplements whatsoever. He lives inside or out happily and gets along with all other horses. He’s also fine being turned out all alone. Be sure to watch his very extensive YouTube video.
